Independent singer-songwriter Tanisha Sharma has officially entered a new chapter of her musical journey with the release of Bitter Treat, an eight-track debut album that explores love, heartbreak, ambition, hope and self-discovery. Released on September 3, 2026, the project follows her catalogue of nine original singles and a three-track EP, bringing together several years of songwriting, experimentation and personal experiences into her first full-length record. Rather than following one continuous narrative, the album captures different emotions and moments that listeners may recognise from their own lives, with its title reflecting the contrast between difficult experiences and the growth that can emerge from them.
Musically, Bitter Treat moves well beyond a single pop formula. Contemporary pop provides its foundation, while influences from pop rock, dream pop, reggae pop, disco pop, Latin pop, techno and electronic music appear across the eight tracks. Sharma also draws from the sound of early-2000s pop while incorporating elements of modern electronic production, creating a balance between nostalgia and experimentation. The songs explore complicated relationships, unspoken feelings, career pressures, self-belief, chasing dreams and the courage required to move forward, giving the album an emotionally varied character while keeping songwriting at its centre.
The roots of Bitter Treat go back much further than its release date. Several of the songs were originally written and composed during Sharma’s school and college years, gradually changing as she developed her skills as a songwriter and producer.

The project began taking its final shape through nearly two years of production, during which she experimented with arrangements, sounds and genres. “I never set out to write an album,” Sharma explains. “I simply kept writing songs over the years. Eventually I realised they belonged together and reflected different parts of my journey.” That realisation eventually turned a collection of individual songs into a cohesive debut record.
Sharma’s creative process was supported by a close group of collaborators, including friends involved in the mixing and mastering, as well as a music production mentor, vocal coach and recording engineer. Their contributions helped translate her ideas into the finished record while keeping the songwriting and emotional intent of each track at the forefront. The album’s storytelling also extends beyond the music, with individual lyric videos accompanying all eight songs and designed to complement the distinct mood of each track.

With Bitter Treat, Sharma moves from releasing individual singles and shorter projects towards establishing herself through a complete album. The record brings together songs written at different stages of her life and places them alongside a deliberately varied production style, creating a snapshot of an artist still evolving while remaining focused on emotionally driven songwriting. For Sharma, the album ultimately turns years of separate musical ideas into one larger statement about growing up, navigating uncertainty and finding the confidence to move forward.
