Raghav Sehgal: Indian Classical Music Prodigy Blends Tradition with Modernity in His Latest Indie Pop Release

Coming from a background rich in Indian Classical Music, Raghav Sehgal is focused on blending traditional Indian sounds with modern influences to create music that’s both authentic and fresh. His latest release, “Jaa Ni Jaa,” is an Indie pop track that showcases this unique fusion, capturing the essence of his musical journey.

Raghav Sehgal, a trained vocalist in Indian Classical Music, also writes and composes his own songs. Some of his recent originals include “Mora Piya,” “Blurry Nights,” and “Heartsick.” Having been immersed in Indian Classical Music since the age of five, Raghav is a disciple of Pt. Sarvesh Kumar Sharma, Pt. Pritam Bhattacharjee, and Mrs. Manjima Roy. His musical upbringing involved listening to legends like Pandit Jasraj Ji and Bhimsen Joshi Ji, while his inspirations include Mohammed Rafi Saheb, Sonu Nigam Sir, Shankar Mahadevan Ji, and Satinder Sartaaj Ji.

Raghav’s journey in music spans over 13 years, during which he has honed his craft and achieved significant milestones. In 2016, he secured the first position at a national level competition, and he has also been interviewed on All India Radio for the show “Chote Ustad.” Recently, in 2023, he had the opportunity to open for Jaz Dhami, further solidifying his presence in the music industry.

Balancing his passion for music with his academic pursuits, Raghav Sehgal is currently a computer science engineer from Penn State. Despite his professional commitments, he continues to pursue his musical aspirations and constantly learns and evolves as an artist. Raghav’s versatility is evident in his ability to sing across various genres, including Indian Classical Music, Indian Semiclassical music, Bollywood, and Punjabi.

Raghav’s upcoming projects include Hindi-Punjabi songs, with his next release being a Hindi pop song. He also has an EP planned ahead called “Four Eva,” which will be a blend of Hindi-Punjabi genres fused with modern pop, hip-hop, and trap. With a strong belief in the philosophy that “Practice makes a man perfect,” Raghav continues to strive for excellence.
