Shaban Raja, born Shabanali Virani, is a 25-year-old Indian rapper hailing from Dahisar, Mumbai. Despite earning a bachelor’s degree in Mass Media, his true passion has always been music. Raja’s journey into hip-hop began during his school days when he started writing songs in 8th grade, inspired by Indian rap icons Krsna and Divine. Known for his exceptional hook game, Shaban Raja has made a name for himself in the indie music scene with his ability to craft infectious, memorable choruses.
The name “Shaban Raja” is inspired by the urban Punjabi artist Kamal Raja, reflecting his blend of local flavor and urban edge. His entry into music became significant after he partnered with music producer Shiva, which led to his focus on writing commercial songs, particularly centered around themes of love.
Shaban Raja’s official debut came in 2023 with the track Dil, which garnered positive traction on YouTube. Later that year, in November, he surprised fans by dropping an EP on his birthday. Without any promotions, the EP has already surpassed 5,000 streams, showcasing his organic appeal and growing audience.
Currently, Shaban Raja is making waves with his latest single, STACK, and has an exciting lineup of upcoming projects, including tracks like Oo Jaana, 2 Stories, Yaad (ft.), and Golden Hour. Adding to the anticipation is his upcoming 4-track EP titled 6am, which promises to deliver fresh narratives and versatile soundscapes, solidifying his presence in the Indian rap game.
